I think it probably depends less on the broader fund/company itself and more on the specific PM/strategy within the organization. I can't authoritatively speak on equity funds specifically, but I'm sure a shop such as Citadel equities has both PMs that focus on quant strategies and PMs that focus on punting earnings.
