when to mention noncompete while interviewing

I am currently working at a prop trading firm where I have signed a noncompete but am interviewing with other firms. They are not prop trading firms, but some are hedge funds that may technically be included under the language of the non compete. I doubt it would be enforced, especially since I am not going for trading roles (although I'm obviously willing to do some trading in addition to something else at a fund if they want me to).

That said, I can't be completely sure, so I am wondering when it would be appropriate to bring up this issue with the firms I am interviewing with?

Would they look upon my candidacy less favorably with that potential hassle?

If I don't tell them, get an offer, and then my shop wants to, say, enforce for a few months, would it be more likely for the new firm to be willing to wait it out or rescind the offer?

Thanks
