Where did the Investment Bank prop-traders go?

Greetings - About a decade ago I worked on a proprietary trading floor at a major investment bank. Since Dodd-Frank it's been my understanding that the proprietary trading actions have been shut-down and now all trading is basically flow trading. A few questions:

  • Did Dodd-Frank really shut down all proprietary trading? I know the traders I worked with who were 100% prop have all gone to other companies - but is proprietary trading really all gone from the banks?

  • What type of firms now house proprietary traders who trade similarly to the trading styles of the banks? In other words, if I'm wanting to get back into the industry, which firms hire for similar strategies / skill-sets these days?

lots of "flow trading" is really mostly prop trading (rates, credit, swaps, etc...)...tho nobody says that

the platform funds took a lot of prop traders...the best of them mostly

citadel, millennium, exodus, point72, balyasny, tudor, brevan, etc....

just google it...you're welcome
