Where should I work?

I am an investment banking analyst right now. I want to do some form of trading (equity or options). Deal making at an investment bank is too slow a process for me.

I have no interest in doing a HF with "deep/fundamental" investment thesis where I spend months doing due diligence on a potential target. That is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

Rather, I want to do quick and fast trades. What type of job is perfect for me? A Hedge Fund or a S&T position at a BB?

I am in a similar situation, PE for 2.5 years, love my team and the concept of acquiring targets but the due diligence process is arduous and you lose more often than you win...

Not to mention that I find fin modeling extremely boring and enjoy facetime/deal making activities far more exciting...

I think an HF/S&T role would suit us both...

iambateman, What does a typical day entail on the sales side of S&T

Early morning team meetings, foreign/domestic market updates with traders, contact clients, etc?

to state the obvious, it is an extremely difficult hiring environment in s&t at the moment, particullarly if you don't have directly applicable experience. So, if you want to move from ibanking to say trading spot fx, this probably isnt the best time.
