Who to Reach Out To When in Back Office
I currently work in the Contracts group at a major’s trading arm (it was my only way to get my foot in the door) but obviously I want to be trading within a 5 or 6 years. I’m curious as to who I should network with – Risk, Scheduling, or directly with Traders. There is no way that I am going to be going directly from Contracts to Trading so I’m curious as to who I should try to reach out to – ie if reaching out to traders this early in the game is pointless. I also worry about the professionalism of this as I contact traders every day regarding contract discrepancies, and it might be strange to ask them about trading, their job, etc. There are a lot of my school’s alumni in all departments so that shouldn’t be an issue.
