Why do people brag that their stock portfolio outperformed the Dow Jones and SP500? Its not even a big deal...

Its not hard to make money in the stock market. Some people can multiply their stock portfolio value with ease. However, you get these people who claim on their resume "Traded stocks and outperformed the Dow Jones and S&P500". For example, the overall stock market saw a 10% gain last year. Last year, you made 15% gain. So you "outperformed the S&P".

WELL, WHOOP-DEE-DOO!!, CONGRATULATIONS(sarcasm)

Seriously, I don't understand why people think that just because they "outperformed the S&P" by 5% or 10%, they think its such a big deal. YOU GOT REAL PLAYERS MAKING 500+% and they don't say "I outperformed the S&P500".
