stocks are still trading, just the floor is shutdown. it's a non-event in my opinion. this is the media's reaction to a day with hardly any news.
Your post is wrong. All trading from the NYSE has been halted, including electronically. NYSE represents 20% of the volume in trading, so traders were still able to trade on the NASDAQ and other exchanges.
