A Move to Healthcare?

I have been at a venture firm for about two years and was previously in investment banking. I enjoy my current coverage area, but would like to move to a more healthcare / bio focused role. My current firm does not invest in those verticals, and I frankly don't have much experience in it, but I am interested nonetheless. Does anyone have thoughts on how to move / any resources on how to get smart on the industry from an earlier stage perspective? Any help is much appreciated.

Hey there! It's great to see you're interested in exploring the healthcare/biotech sector. It's a fascinating field with a lot of potential.

Firstly, it's important to understand that the healthcare industry is vast and complex. It's not just about knowing the science, but also understanding the business, regulatory, and policy aspects.

To get started, you might want to consider taking some courses or classes on healthcare and biotech. This could help you understand the industry better and also demonstrate your interest and commitment to potential employers.

Networking is also key. Try to connect with people who are already working in the healthcare/biotech sector. They can provide valuable insights and might even be able to help you land a role.

Lastly, don't underestimate the value of your current skills and experience. Investment banking and venture capital experience can be very valuable in the healthcare/biotech sector, especially when it comes to understanding financial aspects and evaluating potential investments.

Remember, it's a journey and it might take some time to make the transition. But with persistence and the right approach, you can definitely make it happen. Good luck!
