Blackstone Growth Equity

Anyone have any further information on the set up of Blackstone’s growth fund. Only data I can really find are the news articles from earlier this year about Jon Korngold joining from GA.

Curious if they’re recruiting analysts/associates and what the structure of the team is going to look like vs other more traditional GE players.

No formal recruiting for analysts/associates directly in to growth yet -- more lateral industry hires. The closest you could get is within the tactical opportunities fund, but even they severely limited their hiring at the analyst/associate level, and typically hire top BB ib analysts with a healthcare or energy focus, especially with their new internal drive toward the development of life sciences.

Can you comment on the dynamics of the tactical opportunities group? Is it similar level of modeling intensive work that you’d expect in corporate PE or RE at Blackstone? Similar hours for analysts and associates? Anything else worth mentioning. Seems like an interesting group.

Thanks for sharing.

I can confirm with 10000% conviction that they are formally recruiting associates. Source - headhunter.

No undergrads or MBA's. Honestly, I would be surprised if Blackstone ever considers taking people out of MBA programs that weren't there before b school.

Think you're right. Gobuyside seems to have a good handful of non-BX people going post MBA. I'll walk that back, but would say you need bulge bracket PE exp pre MBA at a top 3 (generally).
