Building Competency in Software Investing

Any recommendations on strong books/case studies/podcast/media that would allow for accelerated competency on diligencing software businesses and the SaaS model?

For context: I work at a MM growth fund mostly focused on the energy transition and infra, but obviously the state of the market is rapidly changing with expectations of what the new administration will bring. For example, our perspective is that the Section 45 credits concerning anything super nascent like CCUS are obviously toast, but there’s also rumors that Trump’s team is thinking about going a step further against core renewables, and moving up the sunset period on the Solar ITC to 2027. This presents a very awkward situation for many green infrastructure investors. There’s nowhere to run. Lots of undiversfiable risk.

To make a long story short, there’s a lot of very healthy, value-add software businesses out there that are aiming to improve the disorganization of the electric grid. It’s a mess if you’re not familiar (particularly in PJM), and it’s obvious that DG will fill the gap for new capacity in lieu of improvements on permitting in many cases.

I don’t know much about software investing beyond the entry level principles (high and consistent LTV/CAC across cohorts, established PMF, large TAM, etc.), and wanted to see if there’s any notably strong influences you would recommend for understanding SaaS.
