Brief background:
Path: intern / analyst at a PE boutique → sr. analyst at the largest financial services firm in my country → associate at a CVC (machinery manufacturing company).
Focus: origination, execution, sector coverage (mining and energy).
Typical work: deal sourcing, screening, building relationships, due diligence, portfolio mgmt., value creation and stakeholder mgmt. (C-Lvl).

What’s your total comp split out by base + bonus? How do you feel about a longer term career at your shop given no fund economics?

Many CVCs are limited in their investing to companies where there is a potential commercial relationship on top of a deal, and are not allowed to invest purely for financial returns. Is your place set up this way? If so, how do you feel about that? Seems like you could be turning down good deals.

My total comp is divided as follows: 77% base salary + 33% bonus. I don't expect to stay here in the long term considering the current status of the company, so I don't see my current compensation split as an issue. Regarding your question, yes. The CVC I work was configured as a strategic one, which has pros but a lot of cons: an investment committee formed by all the members of the C-Lvl. (including the hater ones), almost 100% dependency tied to the business units, overlaps with the OEM (in my particular case), among others. Additionally, currently we are in a succession process which originates a high probability of shutting down the CVC. Other than that, It's a cool experience and very stimulating, talking with entrepreneurs, VCs and corporates in the mining space. I don't see myself here in the long term, but I'm enjoying it.
