Cold Calling/Emailing for VC Internships in the Fall
So I am looking to try and get a fall internship at a VC in San Francisco this fall semester and I had have started cold emailing firms with not a lot of success. Is it more worthwhile to directly email partners at the firm looking to have coffee and go from there or email the info@website contact and ask for fall openings? Or is calling the firm on their contact number a better idea?
What is your background? Are you in an MBA program or undergrad? What city are you based in?
Im a sophomore at a semi target in San Francisco having recently completed a private equity "search fund" internship in the summer.
My recommendation would be to target smaller VC funds who might be short handed on staff and offer your services if need be as un-paid to get the experience.
Strategy for these small firms would work if you directly reach out to partners and senior associates or principals (maybe not analysts) over LinkedIn. If that doesn't work that go directly to their offices and talk to them and show that you are passionate. I think passion is most important thing that would matter. If you can demonstrate that, you should be good.
