Considering move from HF to VC

Currently in l/s equity (ignore username title), and considering the move to VC but not sure if I'm just deluded in the grass is always greener.

I like the internet research aspect of my job, and am not sure if I'd be good at sourcing, but I think it'd be way more interesting to look at and invest in innovative companies more broadly. Right now my fund has the typical "PE approach to public markets," meaning we invest in fewer names and hold them for duration, but I just can't help but shake the thought that I'd look at way more interesting businesses in VC.

Anybody make the switch or just in VC that can share thoughts?
