I was able to relocate from San Francisco to NYC last year. I talked to my manager who then talked to the head of our group. Since we had some people in New York already, they let me relocate.

I think it depends on your group. If your group is solely based in Charlotte, then they may think that letting you be in NYC by yourself would not make sense.

Are all of the groups in NY now? I heard because of the expansion in NY they are starting to move a lot of groups there

There's still a decent split between Charlotte and NYC. There are definitely less people in SF, I think. There are actually more people assigned to 30 Hudson Yards than there are available seats which has been annoying. Wells recently acquired another building in Hudson Yards though and are saying that by the end of 2026 all the people in the 42nd Street office will be moved to this new Hudson Yards office. Hopefully at that point there will be enough seats.

Last year I was told my group has to go in 4 days a week, then at the beginning of this year they said they were never actually tracking it, so lately I've been going in way less.

Have heard its relatively easy. Not interning at wells but know a ton of alumni from my school who interned in clt office then transferred to nyc. I do think you need to be in a group that has a presence in both cities, but I would say most of the groups have some presence in both clt and nyc so shouldn't be a problem. just need to make sure that u articulate your desires to management clearly tho

They have plenty of openings in the US—Far North region. Specifically for assistant branch managers
