Early-career growth equity

Hello all, relatively new to the field and was just wondering:

1) What the best GE firm would be for a job after college?

2) Between FTV, Left Lane, and Accel-KKR, which would make for the best junior / internship experience, or to set someone up for later career? Mainly looking for brand recognition here.

Much appreciated!

Avoid Left Lane. Made a lot of hype investments that are underperforming but they look flashy on paper. People there are clueless in terms of being a good investor and culture isn't that great either - alot of favoritism. You'd probably be stuck sourcing (which can be good at a good shop) for most of your junior career and have no tangible skills or develop good investing acumen. Pick any other MM growth equity shop and you'll be better off.

Pick between FTV and AKKR. Both have top decile returns, whereas Left Lane is a newer fund that has had some poor market timing.

AKKR experience will be similar to traditional PE, as they tend to participate in more banked processes. FTV will feel more like GE...sourcing focused / proprietary deal flow. IMO AKKR has slightly better brand recognition, but the difference isn't material for your career trajectory.

Personally, I'd decide based on the experience you are looking for and culture / fit. Have heard good things about the ppl at both shops, but from an hours perspective AKKR is known to be rough. If you want to do payments, FTV is the easy answer.

These are some thoughts to keep in mind assuming you have standing offers at both places. Most likely scenario for most of us on here is you take the first offer you get.

Also curious here, but coming in from the associate level. Agree with the above that both AKKR and FTV have great returns, but curious about what people have heard about culture and branding. From what I can tell/what I've heard, AKKR has a good reputation but is closer to traditional buyout hours. From the people I have met from FTV, they seem like sharp and friendly people, but do not have much around their culture.

Just a heads up - Accel-KKR doesn't consistently or typically offer full-time return offers to their SAs
