Growth Equity Climate Tech - Questions

Hi Guys,

I am a current second year analyst (18m in IBD), working for the energy coverage team at a solid BB bank. Currently thinking of moving into Growth Equity, specifically Climate Tech Growth Equity. Have several questions on this topic that would be grateful if someone has knowledge on them:

- Best firms in London

- Material to prepare for interviews (fit + technical)

- Compensation guidance (base + bonus)

Thanks in advance!!

Not familiar with specific firms in London and my overall EU knowledge is a bit lacking given most firms we interact with are either in Asia or the US - but have come across a number of different European firms potentially worth looking at. Apologies if the firms are a bit early stage.

  • AP Ventures is the only fund I am familiar with that is based out of London. They backed Amogy (ammonia fuel cell) and Zero Avia (Zero Avia, H2 fuel cell powertrain company targeting aviation) and their thesis is H2.
  • Hy24 - hydrogen-focused fund. JV between Ardian and FiveT Hydrogen. Not sure if they are recruiting right now and they are very much focused on hydrogen solutions (waste to energy, hydrogen combustion, hydrogen fuel cells, electrolyzer tech, etc)
  • AENU - multi-stage evergreen impact fund fund focused on multi-stage, long term investments. Have done some interesting deals recently including Zero Avia
  • Astanor Ventures - Tends to do Series A and on but does some Seed investments. Focused on agrifood and has a strong ESG focus re reducing emissions. Not so much growth equity but they do later-stage deals as well
  • Blue Horizons - Similar to Astanor, focused on agrifood. Focus on reducing emissions in global food sector, backed a lot of alt protein companies
  • Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital - not familiar with them but have seen their name thrown around in a few interesting deals
  • World Fund - They backed Planet A Foods (cocoa replacement), seems like a really interesting deal. Mandate is to mitigate CO2 emissions so could be of interest
