Growth Equity from M&A?

Hey Monkeys, wanted to get some advice on my career trajectory. Currently, hoping to receive a return offer from one of the top tier EB M&A groups in the country (think EVC/PJT/MOE). I'm starting to realize that I may be more interested in moving into growth equity post IB analyst years and have been looking into firms like TA, Insight, and GA. If I'm at an execution focused shop like these, am I going to get screwed by TMT bankers when I try to recruit for associate roles? Would it be to my benefit to gun for the analyst positions at places like WP, Insight, or GA now instead?

Thanks in advance :)
