Growth Equity in London

Is any tech growth or VC fund recruiting right now ?

I’m barely seeing anything at the moment. There are some offers on LinkedIn but nothing comes from headhunters besides early stage VC

Is the market dead or am I doing it wrong ? What’s the approach to getting into tech investing in London?

(for reference I’m at an EB in TMT, so may be the “you’re not at Goldman” factor)

Hey there,

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the recruiting scene in the VC and Growth Equity landscape in London is less seasonal and more based on the firms' current needs and networking. So, it's not necessarily that the market is dead, it might just be a quieter period or the opportunities are not being publicly advertised.

Here are some tips to help you navigate this:

  1. Networking: This is key in the VC and Growth Equity scene. Try to connect with people in the industry, attend events, and make your interest known.

  2. Broaden your search: While LinkedIn is a great tool, don't limit yourself to it. Check out the websites of the firms you're interested in, as they might post opportunities there. Some of the top firms in London include Balderton, Accel, Atomico, and Index Ventures.

  3. Leverage your experience: Being in TMT at an EB is a strong background. Make sure to highlight your relevant skills and experiences in your applications and conversations.

  4. Patience: Remember, these things take time. Keep at it and don't get discouraged.

Remember, it's not about where you're coming from, but where you're going. Keep swinging from those branches, and you'll land where you want to be!

Isn’t it extremely hard to go from early stage to growth given you don’t really develop the same modelling and DD skills ?

Also salary wise, are there any funds that pay well early stage ? The ones I asked had very low in salaries, maybe 70-80k for entry level associates, although arguably WLB is better. In growth I feel the entry salary is around 90-100k and you also have a bonus so the pill is easier to swallow coming from IB
