Lateral VC Partner Move

Wanted to get some input from the community here on tactics and recommendations to making a lateral VC Partner move.

I’ve been a Jr. Partner at a smaller size (~$150 AUM) fund (Sr Assoc, Princ, Jr Partner) totaling over 5 years tenure but prior to this was an engagement manager at a top consulting firm, so I don’t have any experience on the recruiting side for VC, in particular higher level roles.  I’m interested in moving on as the upward trajectory and partnership situation is not attractive.

The challenging piece here is that my network is well known by the other leaders in our fund so it makes it challenging to utilize that method to find a new role.

Any recommendations on approach?  Reach out to recruiting firms?  Other tactics?
