MBB -> startup -> VC
Have been at MBB for ~3 years, starting to evaluate different career paths. Majority of focus at MBB has been in PE / doing CDDs - now considering startup route (mix of roles across product strategy, GTM, etc. - likely Series B or later) vs. VC route (indifferent on early vs. growth, tech-focused)
Long-term, I think that I would enjoy being on the investing side given I've enjoyed my PE focus at MBB. With the amount of innovation going on and being early in my career, I'm feeling drawn to get some operating experience and be directly involved in that innovation. Being a founder then going to VC (especially for early stages) obviously has benefits, but are there similar / also benefits in getting experience at a Series B-E startup in product or GTM/S&O roles before going to VC - or would this actually hurt my chances? Appreciate any insights!
