Patent background for VC?
Hi, I have been particing patent law for 6 years and would like to transition over to VC or PE. I am currently in the process of applying to MBA programs. Does anyone know whether I would be able to go directly to a VC or PE firm after graudating with my MBA? Or would I need to work first in investment banking? The reason I ask is because the application essays ask for my long-term and short-term goals. I'd prefer not to list a short-term goal that is unrealistic. Thanks in advance.

Wow! That's more than 20 helpful responses. I'm glad I asked the question.
Says a lot about the level of VC expertise on this board. patent555, have you found any other forum with decent VC info?
Not really. I am currently on Wait Lists at two of the top 5 or 6 business schools. If I get in to either one of them I will try to get some info from current students or maybe the alumni who are in VC. That's probably my best course of action.
sorry guys, i'll work on getting some more VC professionals on this board...i've been holding off on some marketing because there are some major upgrades and changes coming for the site.
