Post-MBA Venture Capital Comp
I'm currently in my last semester of b-school going through advanced stages of VC interviews. I did VC pre-MBA and have only a few data points on post-MBA comp for a Senior Associate / VP. Starting base is pretty consistent: $140k - $160k in Bay Area (with an outlier at $120k for a small fund in Boston). But bonus and carry (if any) is the big variable. For VC bonuses, I've heard 40% to 100% of base, usually without carry until Principal level.
What have you heard? Also, how do base and bonus progress 2-5 years out? One of the funds I'm speaking with has a track record of "promoting to partner" in a few years... essentially everyone is a partner there, but "partner" means "has some form of carry" in that fund. Any ideas on comp for junior partners?
