Preparing for my first day as an Associate at a Venture Capital Firm

As the title says.

Left my previous role last month, earlier than expected since I was finishing up a project and it didn't make sense to move on to another one. Parted on great terms.

The problem is I've been off for two weeks already, don't start the VC role till early May and I'm already bored. Travelling isn't an option right now. Going to the gym twice a day and plowing through the books in my library is starting to lose its novelty.

Really just want to get started as I'm most comfortable when working. Is there anything meaningful I could be doing for the next month while I wait?

Best Response

The most helpful would be to stay on top of the news in the relevant industry/verticals and to read VC blogs/medium posts. Additionally, try to familiarize yourself with their portfolio so you have more context when specific companies come up in conversation.

Don't worry about the firm specific processes/methodologies unless they specifically sent you materials to review. You could also just ask if there's anything they would recommend doing so you can hit the ground running, but its certainly not necessary.

Congrats & enjoy!
