To Startup or Not to Startup!

Hi WSO Community, I am an experienced tech / strategy consultant with a little over 3 years of experience, working in a small company gave me the oppourtunity to report to the managing partner of the firm. This was a great learning experience and got to learn first hand what it meant to be a top notch consultant.

I've recently quit my job and looking to start out on my own. What would you do if you were in my place?

I'm 25 and keen on learning new things!

Do you think you will be able to bring in clients? That is the biggest question. If you have the reputation and ability to bring in clients then it would work out. Starting out you will be the person doing everything; sales, accounting, etc.

The biggest hurdle is you need to be able to get money coming in the door. If you can do that then you could start your own firm. But you need money/clients coming in, without that you don't have a consulting business.

"yeah, thats right" High-Five

Hi @ICHCNNYU & @David_Puddy", Thanks for responding to my query.

I have pitched to potential clients in the past however, don't have first hand experience selling. Will need to pick up this skill as I progress.

In your opinion what are some of the major challenges in starting your own consulting practice (apart from client acquisition)?

Thanks!
