Transitioning into VC
I'm a recent graduate of an undergrad b-school (think UNC/UT-Austin) looking to transition into early-stage VC. This can be a direct investing role or fund/direct investing.
For context, I helped my friend launch their social impact startup that scaled rapidly during the pandemic. I spent my sophomore summer in IB at DB. Worked on VC/growth equity fund/co-investments at a Sand Hill Road firm last summer. My full-time role is at a bigger FoF shop (Stepstone/Hamilton Lane) but it's a generalist model which I dislike.
I'm applying to fellowships such as VFA and Vamos Ventures, but how else can I facilitate this process being outside of IB/MBB? When should I start? Do I need a top MBA?
