Undergrad into a16z?
I am finishing up my degree online and working full time as a VC analyst in NY. I have a IB summer analyst job in NY next summer. I have an interview with a recruiter at a16z and many connections at the firm. Do they take people from undergrad? What are your thoughts? How do I land the post grad job?
Highly disrecommend anyone take VC out of undergrad because the development is poor and you have no skills. The moderating factor is having a16z on your resume so you have a decent social safety net within startup careers in the Silicon Valley world. I would more so recommend gaining real skills first before you go to VC. There are many topics on this forum explaining why.
I think you'll be okay going to a16z out of college instead of banking... some of the most interesting careers out there are from people who've disregarded broad advice like this when presented with cool opportunities.
The problem is the majority of people on this forum are extremely risk-averse. I've worked in the fintech and VC space. Not a single person I've met who has joined these industries straight out of undergrad have regrets. It's just that they're naturally risk-takers
Do they actually hire undergrads?
Any updates on this? Do they take undergrads?
