VC internship - Non-target Bschool doing my MBA

Hi , I go to a non target BSchool, doing my MBA(2nd Yr) in Fin come from a IT background, I have got a part time internship oppourtunity at a Local VC fund (Pre-Seed and Seed stage). I would be doing due diligence work and they have promised to involve me in the deal team. I was curious if this opportunity would help in me break into prestigious PE shops/ HFs for a full time offer.

A bit about my background I have an engineering undergrad (from IIT-india) and around 4 years of Software dev experience. My summers was at GS operation :( My target profile is that of trader/quant analyst at a Hedge Fund.

Your comments/suggestions would be highly appreciated ~viv

well, the reality is that youre going to be doing very little financial analysis, especially when evaluating pre-seed & seed investments. You might get exposure to and build up your technical analysis skills and industry knowledge but this is a very different skill set that what a trader and/or quant needs. Anything highly mathematical, with some programming work, would probably help you out more. But of course, there is an argument to be made to being on the buy side, no matter what type of investing -- if you have a good mentor this could be a fantastic opportunity, and you might decide you'd rather be a vc.
