VC Recruiting

How early does VC recruiting start when recruiting from IB (Does Sequoia/IVP use headhunters or does one need to network independently for these roles)? I’ll be working in tech M&A in SF and am wondering how the recruiting process differs from MF PE.

Starts as early as oncycle the same time as PE recruiting and runs as late as a couple months before the start date. Those two firms in particular don't go on cycle. Most of the major ones do use headhunters but networking independently also works and likely will yield a better outcome.

Recruiting process tends to be much more stretched out than MF PE (usually smaller teams at these funds and you'll likely interview with all members caveating that during oncycle it is likely compressed)

Following this thread. What does the interview process look like for VC / Growth? I know buyout shops will have LBO case studies so what is the comparison in VC and Growth?
