VC red/green flags and perspectives on RiverVest

I found a job posting for a VC fund, RiverVest, (can't post a link) and figured I'd apply since I've been interested in transitioning to finance for some time now, hearing VCs in particular value younger MDs with a consulting and modeling background.

However, friends in finance warned me that VC more than a lot of other fund structures can be difficult to advance in and are sometimes spotty in terms of exit opportunities. So, I was curious --

1) If anyone on this forum has heard of RiverVest, their overall business practices, promotion record etc., and

2) If anyone had general recommendations on recognizing green/red flags for VC funds with respect to fund size, turnaround time on investment exits, broader strategy, or any other factors that come to mind as I'm generally ignorant of this sector.
