VC vs IB salary in EU

I am in the last year of a master in a top European business school and I am considering where to start my career after i graduate. I really love the startup world, and I'm sure that in the future I will want to be involved in it, either as a founder or as a vc. However, I need to pay a big student loan and, from my perception, pay in VC funds in Europe is quite lower than IB, and it is not common to get an interesting amount of equity in the startups, therefore I am thinking that it would make more sense to start my career as a banker or something more remunerative to switch later. Is it a terrible plan? Maybe it would be an even better option to start in a big tech commpany?

I would love to work for a VC fund in the US, but as an European with an European master I believe that it would be impossible to do so, am I right?

Thanks :)
