Venture Capital Career Change

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting and am searching for some career advice.

I graduated from Florida State about a year and a half ago to pursue a career in commercial real estate brokerage in Northeast Florida. I've found, however, while I enjoy the consulting role of working with companies, I'd rather consult companies on tech strategy rather than commercial real estate, as I want to be "in-front" of business trends and don't think I'm passionate about office leasing.

I was considering making a move into venture capital, but I feel like this would be a challenge for me given my background (Sarasota born, FSU undergrad, Jacksonville work, etc.) but I must say that I have superb commercial real estate experience, having closed over $15m worth of commercial real estate leasing since coming to town. Additionally, I sit on the board of the Young Jewish Professionals group in town, and am an active Rotarian.

I understand that I will likely need a strong MBA degree to fully transition into prestigious VC transactions. Since I am non-technical in skill but am eager to learn, what positions should I pursue for pre-MBA work experience? I am mostly interested in media, entertainment, IT, ed-tech, and consumer products.

For some more context, I am going to turn 23 in April.

Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
