Venture Capital Career path

I just obtained a summer analyst position at a VC firm and was wondering about what the career paths could be?

I'm also the VP of Community Relations (fundraiser) in my local business school so I'll be interacting daily with PE and VC firms.

I don't have the investment banker background so what type of things should I shoot for being so new to the industry if I happen to like it?
