Boutique IB VS. BAML PWM - Sophomore Summer

Boutique IB or MM PE VS. BAML PWM for the summer after Sophomore year?

I'm from the Charlotte region. Purpose of this internship is to set me up well for multiple BB IB offers for my Junior summer. Open to other suggestions and advice. Thank you.

Thanks for the response. Boutique IB or PE would be a small shop in Charlotte targeting mostly middle market to lower middle market stuff. Hard to get BB FO IB as a Sophomore non-diverse candidate

Would I be grilled much harder on technical if I had boutique IB on my resume? Since I had "comparable" experience and modelling experience. Is there any value to getting a name-brand such as BAML or MS on my resume if the experience is going to be PWM or something not as transferable.

The fact that you can talk about any of the technical stuff that you did/learned over the IBD internship during your interview is a major plus. I've never done PWM internship before so don't know how you could relate that to IBD but you will most certainly have less relevant materials to talk about in relation to IBD.

Some other questions. Would working at a small-medium size HF (AUM: 500 mill - 2 billion) be relevant for trying to break into IB junior year? I also have some experience managing my personal and family portfolio, should I even include these option trading and investing experience on my resume. (Mostly event-driven zero beta strategies in developing markets )
