Cold Call to NY Financial Advisor

Let me start off by saying that I am a freshman in college at a near T50 school and am looking to have a 3.8 or 3.6 gpa after the first semester. I also work while going to school and my boss and I started talking about my aspirations and what I wanted to do after college. Long story short, he said that he knew the CEO of wealth management at a top notch bank in NYC. I asked him if he thought it'd be possible to get his e-mail so I could discuss the possibility of an internship this summer and he said he might be able to do that. Just recently he came back with not only his work phone number, but also his personal cell phone number. I did some research on this gentleman's name and found that he has two present jobs under his work history, both under top notch banks. I'd like to call him very soon but was wondering how I should go about attempting to get some type of experience or internship. I realize that because I am only a freshman the likelihood of me getting an internship is extremely slim, but there's always hope and you can't complain about networking. Any advice would be appreciated!

As a freshman my situation is a little bit different being so young and having almost no technical skills but hey, I appreciate how helpful your response was.

As a freshman, your situation is very different from the other one hundred posts from freshmen on this site, since you are much younger than them and they have more technical skills than you do. I am sure that the advice given to them will not apply to you, as your situation is so unique. Don't worry, the search function at the top of the page is purely for show.

In all seriousness, it sounds like you don't need to beat around the bush with the guy. Without reading your post too carefully or thinking too hard about this, off the top of my head, I would 1) call 2) ask for job.

edit: btw, everyone here is young and has no technical skills. Don't kid yourself.
