Difference between GSAM and PWM at Goldman Sachs
Hi:
I have a Goldman Sachs Investment Management FT 1st round interview coming up. I was just wondering what is the difference between GSAM and PWM? From what I know, GSAM deals with institutional clients while PWM deals with more individuals. Are the other differences in terms of kind of work or skill set between the two?

there's a lot of groups within GSAM/PWM so its hard to make a general comment about the differences between them. one thing of note is that all of the Goldman internal funds (that outside investors can participate in) reside in GSAM. so if you are interested in hedge fund type experience its probably the better place.
GSAM manages assets for institutional clients
PWM manages assets for high net worth individuals ($5M+ in liquidity, lots of celebs are Goldman clients)

In terms of skills, obviously more person-oriented and mktg approach to pwm than gsam. more analytical work in gsam i'd like to know though, where do you think do we learn more about core business and which one of these two really enrich your know-how? can anyone answer this pls..
