How to get PWM internship as freshman to break into IB post-grad?

Hey everyone,

So long story short, I'm a current freshman in college that wants to get into IB post-grad. I'd like to acquire a PWM internship for the summer between freshman year and sophomore year but I'm not sure how to do this as employers probably wouldn't give most freshmen a chance. Just curious to know how those that currently work in IB that held a PWM internship during the summer after their freshman year college got theirs. Through leveraging connections? Cold-calling/emailing? Or were you actually able to go through the whole recruitment process? If it helps, I have interned for a jewelry company doing social media marketing, and a local consulting firm doing some basic work. Please help me out, thanks!

Also a freshman on the same path as you so I can't really offer any seniority advice, but from what I've found by using the search bar is that you essentially have to network your way in.

Build a list of the banks in your area and cold call/email their financial advisors asking to chat about their career and maybe attach your resume to the email for reference. Some people straight up open by asking if there's an internship spot open but I haven't tried being that direct. Focus on the alumni from your school as the hit rate will be much higher
