How to prepare myself for upcoming PWM internship???
I will try to keep this short. I come from a non-target school, 3.3GPA, but investment is all my passion, and I have been investing (equity, options, and recently commodity futures) since middle school (Chinese market and then changed to US market when immigrated). like everyone else, I was looking for summer internships (I am a junior). However, being that I come from a non-target school (average GPA), and no one would believe that I beat the market 2014-2017 using real money, it was very hard for me to get even an interview. honestly, writing this post now, it is still tough to think about the times when I and my buddies are just applying to different companies and hoping to get an interview. However, after 458 applications, 3 rounds of interviews, I got an offer from BNY Mellon wealth management summer internship program. Obviously, I was thrilled, and they seem to be fairly impressed from the interview (the interview was more like a conversation between colleague, given that we began talking about asset management/investment ideas. I got an offer the next morning after the final interview.) So now the question becomes, is BNY Wealth management a good company to work for? they are paying me 32/hr so the pay is not bad. I do have another offer from Verizon to work as their financial summer analyst, but I am no fan of telecommunication haha. furthermore, what are some of the things I can do from now till next summer to make myself successful at the internship? and for those of you with the experience, Is Wealth management a good industry to work for, and what are the opportunities in the future? Thank you for reading.
