PWM vs Sales roles in IB

I wonder what everyone thinks on the topic of private wealth management vs sales roles in IB?

What are the pros and cons and which one do you find more attractive?

In terms of pay, bonuses are based on performance, so what are the ways to measure performance in PWM vs Sales? Is it the amount of money you (your team) have under management and how many new clients(money) you bring in for PWM? and for Sales is it the amount of trades your clients execute based on your advice?

PWM and Sales is really different ...

There's 3 arms ... Asset Management , PWM, and Investment Bank

IB and certain AM roles are similar. PWM / Retail brokerage is quite boring

UNLESS you're at like ML / UBS where the private bank has some legit trading roles ... but if you're just a client facing relationship person ... its a pretty worthless job

Could you elaborate what do you mean by "worthless". Bad salary/bonuses compared to IB/S&T? You do not gain skills/specific knowledge like you do in IB? Bad exit ops compared to IB? Please be more specific :-)

What I am looking for is actually a comparison between an analyst job in PWM and in S&T as Sales. Comparison most likely should include angles like salary(bonuses), exit ops, skills required, skills/knowledge you gain, etc.

You don't learn anything and there's few exit ops. Also you won't be seeing huge bonuses as an analyst.

IBD is probably the best job coming out of college but I'm biased. But if you can't get that, between PWM and Sales, its really up to you.
