Reality Check - Big Four Financial Advisory (Corporate Finance) to IB?
Hi, I would like to know how realistic is it to transfer from Big Four's financial advisory (corporate finance) arm to Investment Banking in a few years? Also, how transferrable are the skill sets? Will the Big Four Financial Advisory experience be looked down when applying a top-ranked IB?
At the same time, I have a corporate banking relationship manager offer, which pays much better compared to the Big Four offer. Given that my objective is to transfer to IB in the future (senior associate or VP level), which route would make more sense and provide better upside?
Thank you for your suggestions.
saw your other post. why not go to IB now? if you have nothing else, take the RM role and network to try and get into IB. also get ready for a probable demotion from Corporate Banking to IB
Thanks for the feedback. Don't have much related experience to IB, and I missed the MBA recruitment timeline (summer associate to full time associate route). That's why it's hard for me to directly break into IB. Have you personally seen many cases of corporate banking to IB?
yes I've seen it happen for good groups (e.g. TMT Corporate Banking to IB TMT) highly depends on the exposure you get on the CB side.
