REIT SA vs PWM Intern

Hey guys, I have asked this question in the chat room a couple of times in the past but I just wanted to get a general consensus on my situation.

Currently I am a freshman interning at a large telecom REIT in the porfolio management finance group. During my time here i have performed tasks such as IRR modeling, deal execution, due diligence, and negotiation with clients. However, I am aware that most freshman do PWM as their first internship and I am a little anxious that this may put me at a disadvantage to them when i am applying to boutique IB firms for next summer.

So my question is, does this internship indeed put me at a disadvantage for boutique SA recruitment for next summer? And if so, should I aim for a PWM role rather than a boutique IB role for summer 13?

Thanks.

I'm pretty much exactly like you, and I think I got better experience thus far from doing an REIT than cold-calling at a PWM. I've already created two financial models from scratch of two of our assets and created a couple pitch books. Also done some due diligence (deal execution? Isn't everything you said part of completing a deal...?). I used mostly DCF analysis in my models though. IRR is more a benchmark-type indicator to help set a price range of an asset.

PM me if you want to talk more in depth.
