1st year analyst lateral - tech banking in SF

What does the process of lateraling in tech banking in SF look like for a 1st year analyst?

How much experience should you have gained (e.g., deal experience, time at old/initial firm, technical skills, etc.) before you reach out to other banks?

Do opps usually get posted online or a significant number of opps are only disclosed to people already in contact with bank?

Primarily interested in moving to GS/Qatalyst/EVR/LAZ so firm-specific info would be awesome as well
