Rising Sophomore Summer 2022

I am a current freshman, and am trying to figure out when to start applying for Sumer 2022 internships.

I have secured a 2021 summer internship at a federal regulatory body (think FED, SEC, etc). I am also at a Midwest Target school.

Should i be applying to all of the SA 2022 internships that are posted on here? Do I even have a chance?

thanks so much for the help

Typically only BBs have sophomore summer programs, and those processes generally operate on different timelines. You should look at GS, MS, BAML, CS, DB, and UBS for sure (GS is the same application as junior SAs). I'm sure there are others out there, but I know those banks have programs.

Spots are limited, so I'd try to network as much as possible. I think MS took ~35 sophomore summer analysts, but keep in mind a lot are from target schools.

I'd definitely try for one of these because if you get one you're pretty much set to stay or lateral to like an EB or better BB. Some of the BBs have freshmen insight series that help you get interviews for their sophomore programs (I think UBS has a "tomorrow's leaders" program, but apps may have closed already).

Other than that, I'd honestly try to get something in PE/HF. Because the timeline for junior SA is so early now, I know people who don't know what they're doing over sophomore summer while they're recruiting. So, if you don't get something on lockdown it's not the end of the world.
