Advice for recent grad

I recently graduated in December and have been trying to look for jobs as an analyst or trader. Basically anything that can give me a leg up and some actual experience. I attached my resume and would appreciate any advice on what positions I'd best be suited for. I'd like to try and get into private equity so any help with that specifically would be great. Thanks ahead of time.

Gonna have to level with you. You graduated with no relevant experience and you want to go into PE? Not gonna happen working at your Dad's office.

Sorry to sound harsh, you've got the right format, but get rid of those sub bullets. Those are wasting valuable space. Also, don't call it your father's office, that sounds like you can't find a job.

Put your interests in finance in your experience, hopefully you have some extracurricular experience there (finance clubs, competitions, etc.). Your GPA is also low, I'd consider a masters degree to revamp yourself.

You would have a hard time finding a job in corporate finance with that experience. My last piece of advice is to show your excel skills through the resume, working on a project or with a teacher, or something like that. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, and I totally don't mind you being "harsh". Everything you said I kind of expected. Also, I'm not calling it my fathers office, it's got our family last name but it doesn't say that on my actual resume.

As far as PE, I kind of meant I'd like to work towards that over the next couple years. I'm really just trying to find a job as an analyst basically anywhere I can, because like you said my GPA is low and my experiences are very basic. I am pursuing a CFA designation. I took the level 1 exam in December but didn't pass, and I'm enrolling again for June.

I might try and reach out to some of my old teachers and see if there'd be a way I could assist on a project or something that might help me out. Thanks again.

Are you a Rutgers Grad? I ask because your relevant coursework looks exactly like mine from 2 years ago before I took it off.

Some random points:

Change your job titles. It looks like you are applying to an administrative assistant position. If not for your first internship, at least at your parent's place.

You need to work through your bullet points and add something more analytical.

Not everyone knows what CRM is so write it out then follow it with a (CRM).

There was a thread the previously discussed the merits of having video gaming on a resume. I believe the general consensus was to take it off.

Ping me if you have any additional questions. I am feeling a little nostolgic.
