Am I an idiot for not taking a fall internship?

I'm currently working a summer internship at a large entertainment company where I got an offer to extend my internship into the fall virtually. The thing is that my fall semester's going to be largely online, and because I have a hard time focusing on my academics virtually, I decided that taking this could bring down by GPA quite a bit. Plus, it's just the same role, so I won't be adding any more responsibilities to my resume besides a 3 month extension.

Now, I'm being told that I should have accepted the position to extend the internship, but given the risks, I didn't think that it was worth the marginal benefit of just adding a couple months on my resume. That way, I can focus on getting a better GPA. Am I stupid for doing this or nah?

So I do believe you are undervaluing longevity. A lot of employers respect staying at a company for longer than normal because it shows loyalty and commitment. That being said, I can't tell you what's best for you. At the end it's probably not going to be that big of a deal, and having just finished my senior year virtually, I can understand why you would want to focus on grades this semester.

I do already have an offer at that same company next summer but in a different department/location, so I was thinking that could just show dedication. It's just that this fall's really a bad time for me to be working at the same time (plus idk if doing those same responsibilities is worth the "longevity" for an intern tbh)
