I would recruit ASAP and continuously as much as motivation allows for lateral spots as market is hot right now.
If you genuinely like the bank tho, baml or barc, take the offer to your MD and leverage it to see if he can squeeze you into another coverage or M&a group by talking to another md. If not then take the offer you got.

Yes, i know 2 people who have lateraled as first years (just out of college and training). Not the best look, but market is hot and opportunities are there. If you don’t someone else will.
