Any late bloomers in extracurriculars, hobbies, or athletics?

I just started mountain/train biking in AZ  and am thinking of joining a rock climbing gym. Making the best of the situation.  I can actually wake up in the morning and go biking before work. The cool thing about biking is that you can run over snakes and only have to worry about mountain lions. You also get a nice breeze in the heat. Does anyone start doing new stuff at a later age?

Yea same picked up tennis late, actually started playing consistently when rona hit, and been playing ever since. Me and my buddies all kinda suck but its so much fun cuz we all get pretty competitive too. My serve is still trash but its such a great feeling getting that pop sound on a nice forehand

How do you find people to play with? I love tennis but I have no idea how to find people to play with, especially to match my mediocre skills. It's OK to golf with someone with a wildly different handicap if the worse golfer plays quickly, but playing tennis against someone well below (or above, for that matter) your skill level just isn't fun.

That’s why people are rated at 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 etc

Recently started playing the piano again about a month ago. Use to play in elementary school but haven't learned/played anything new since then. Starting to learn some new pieces, reading music and eventually plan on taking some lessons later.

Started making cocktails recently, very fun and highly satisfying if you have the ingredients (which obviously a big step for many)

hahaha wow such skill - I can also mix grapefruit juice and vodka

When I was studying abroad in Beijing through Columbia, I was working on this bartender trick which was pretty basic - just catching the bottle upside down in the air and filling up shot glasses.

At the end of the program all the teachers and students and head of the program went out for drinks and we got bottle service. I attempted the trick in front of the head of the program and missed catching the bottle and knocked over a bunch of shot glasses and spilled half the bottle of vodka on the table and everywhere.

My classmates thought it was hilarious, but unfortunately didn’t get a recommendation from the head of the program after that. Oh to be young - hahaha

I didn't find kickboxing or grappling until I was 28 years old. I did triathlon when I was 24, but really sucked then at the sport and didn't get a decent time until later in life at 35-36 when I started getting good results. I know how to train now, to an extreme sense meaning some sessions are 6hrs of training for 25 - 35hr training weeks to peak prior to a race.

Now I know exactly how to train, how much volume I can take, and how much nutrition I need for pretty much anything. This is a big skill in triathlon. I also can pee in the swim bike and run. It's a coveted talent in the sport.

Learning house dancing @ 27. I have competitive dance experience but only in 1 particular discipline. Been wanting to pick up house because the scene has such an amazing community that ties with not only the dance itself but also the larger house music scene (warehouse parties, dance studio sessions, etc.). Timing also seems great going into post-COVID reopening.

While house can get pretty technical, 90% of it is related to you feeling the music and having fun with it
