Apple - The next iPhone is here
24 hours to go until one of the most hyped announcements of the year in the world of Technology. As usual, this annual event is where Apple unveils new generation iPhones, their cash cow, here's the rumors:
- iPhone 7 might be waterproof
- Better camera, graphics, battery life, RAM.. the usuals
- No Headphone jack?!
The removal of the traditional headphone jack looks like a major concern for iPhone users (including me), with people threatening to switch to Android should Apple decide that their old accessories are not welcome anymore (personally I was thinking of switching for some time).
Apple had a mediocre performance in recent years, more specifically since Tim Cook became CEO,
Will the next iPhone be a hit and revive AAPL Stock? and what do you think of the Headphone Jack situation?

Update 8th September 2016:
Apple annouced yesterday the iPhone 7 with the above features as expected:
They also announced the "AirPods", 2 wirelessly connected earphones to your phone:

All that is nice until you think about your brain being toasted in the middle between signals with these new generation earphones. Below is a video talking a little about this concept however he says a lot of BS accusations and whatever but just to get an idea:
really dgaf about all that stuff, just make the screen out of something different so I can chuck that shit after a bad phone call
hahaha can't recall how many screens I wrecked!
"Better camera, graphics, battery life, RAM.. the usuals" - yeah these better be improved (especially battery life) or why even bother making a new phone
being waterproof could be a big deal, the headphone jack part i dont care too much about, use bluetooth all the time anyways with my headphones, though what happens when your bluetooth stops working (assuming bluetooth is the alternative here)
Battery is definitely one of the biggest issues in my life.
I have a charger at home next to bed, one next to my pc, one in my car and one in the office and my phone still manages to dry out.
For the Headphone Jack people are speculating they would use the lightning port (where you put the charger) to connect the headphones.
MOr battery life to accommodate the extra battery drain from keeping your bluetooth on.
Will the headphone jack really make people switch? I'm skeptical.
I personally will. I have to use a device which accepts Aux connection to my cars sound system, I also use Beats heaphones. Most of my other devices require traditional jacks and I am very doubtful that every single manufacturer on earth will do what fits Apple's preferences in that scenario.
I also was thinking of changing for a long time to Galxy s7 edge for many reasons including the beautiful screen that device entertains and the more open Android environment.
Rumors are when you buy the 7 it will come with an adapter for the headphone jacks. I am guessing that will alleviate many concerns but it will be a pain for AUX cords.
If Apple hits the fan on this one they're SOL, quite honestly. Sales have been going down, you can only re-invent one product so many times before consumers get bored with it.
Apple fanboy circle jerk in full effect. This company is completely fucked.
I'm not a fanboy, but saying AAPL is fucked is insane. I wouldn't (and don't) own the stock right now, but I think it's pretty hard to see a case where they're fucked because the iPhone7 isn't overly innovative.
btw - I dont think it will be waterproof, but if it was that'd actually be pretty sweet.
We'll see. I just think the device market is way overly saturated now and Apple no longer offers anything innovative.
I agree it's not fucked but we'll never see the same appreciation we've seen
I'm waiting to see what they drop in Cupertino today in deciding if I switch to Android, which it sounds like you use. Got any recommendations for phones I should research? The S7 sure does look nice...
I got a Nexus 5X and the google project Fi network. I now pay about $45 a month for cell service whereas I was paying around $120 a month before with Verizon. No brainer, but then again I havent been brain washed by Apple.
I think everyone who says they will switch because they can't plug their headphones in is silly. Are you really going to be butt hurt because all of a sudden you can go to the gym and lift your 5 lb. dumbbells without a cord in your way?
As mentioned above, the only valid thing I can think of is for playing music in your car, but for a few hundred bucks you could always just put in a system that allows for Bluetooth and calls if your car is older... you will already be spending 6-700+ if you are getting the iPhone 7. Why not make it worthwhile?
People are definitely going to be using bluetooth, but that's going to burn the battery, which circles back to the whole battery life issue.
I am looking forward to finding out the battery size they are going to be placing into the phone. Especially since removing the headphone jack will require a thinner battery to go in there. I think my 6 Plus is ~ 3000mAh? The S7 Edge has a 3600 mAh pack, but I've heard mixed reviews on it lasting long.
Haha, I love the iphone minion tech geek saying no one else is strong. Go bitch to the other hipsters at the genius bar.

Honestly wondering just how much longer the iphone love will last. They have consistently been a couple years behind Android phones, just now coming out with water proof. Android already has shatter proof screens in the works, guarantee they hit the market before the iphone makes its screens shatter proof. Also losing the headphone jack is extremely annoying, what about aux cords or using headphones while charging the phone?
you know I really don't think I would upgrade my iPhone, I recently trashed my Macbook cause that thing is useless for Ms Office suite, Trading, Gaming or any other serious thing you're trying to get done. Got myself a windows 10 computer and trust me my whole life is better since.
Same with the iPhone. I think Apple devices are very elegant though and offer a nice interface, but utility wise they loose on every dimension.
S7 Edge here I come.
The biggest thing I'm worried about is that I know I'll always lose one of the damn earpieces. I need that cord.
iPhone 7 Leaked (Originally Posted: 08/05/2016)
Apparently the "final chassis" of the iPhone 7 Plus has been leaked, and some YouTuber put up a video documenting the physical changes. I'm pretty content with my iPhone 6 as of now and have no desire to replace it, but what surprises me is the omission of a headphone jack. I guess Apple is going to be pushing some special dongle or wireless headphones pretty heavily in the future.
The video is found here:
Thoughts?
bluetooth ftw
the headphone jack takes up a lot of real estate within the phone so if they don't have a headphone jack that leaves more space for other components. I'm betting apple will include either wireless headphones with the product or headphones that go to the lightning port, which brings up another interesting question. I often times will work from home and have calls (beats wireless don't have microphone) using my stock earbuds but also keep the phone plugged in (inevitably long calls will kill the battery), so I wonder how apple intends to counter this or if they just don't care.
I may upgrade in the fall when this thing comes out, we'll have to see though...
Sure the jack takes up a lot of room, but from the video the iphone 7 had pretty much the same thickness as the iphone 6. Allocating that space to faster performance is pretty much pointless, speed among flagship phones isn't a big differentiator for the average user, especially when 90% of the activity is web browsing and messaging. Allocating that space to battery life might add maybe +10% usage time. You can see how much of the phone is battery on youtube battery replacement videos, a bit more room from the missing jack is prob
Does this mean I'm forced to buy Apple's $100 earphones that are guaranteed to break within 6 months?
Or they'll give you a pair of Beats so you can look "cool" and "hip"
So how do I charge my iPhone now-while listening to music with my headphones ?? Apple ??!
I have to believe that Apple has considered the problem of charging the phone while listening to headphones. Assume this issue will be addressed.
Bought a pair of Bose QuietComfort 35s for my 5 hour roundtrip commute this year as a summer intern. Have not looked back.
When I got my Iphone 6 (Fall 2014), I did the 2 year contract and paid something like $300 for it (The ATT upgrade cost). I guess no major network does this anymore???? That $300 comes out to about $13/mo if you keep it for 2 years. Bargain. The plan I s aw at ATT recently didn't give any type of long term customer discount (like the 2 year contract renewal in years gone by) but now they want to either 1) charge you full retail ($750?) or you pay something like $30/mo just for the phone. Is this acccurate? If so..Thats messed up
The phone still costs full retail, you just paid $300 up front. ATT made up the rest through their contract, service fees etc. They weren't giving you a discount on the phone
It's accurate. They still offer payment plans though and they're cheaper than 30 a month for the iphone. Apparently the cost of two year contracts has been "deducted" but I've a feeling it's bs.
Motorola just released a new phone with no headphone jack, they provided a USB type C to 3.5mm dongle, I assume apple will do the same. I am also sure Apple will charge a boat load for bluetooth headphones and some sort of Y Adapter to charge and listen to music. They should really include wireless charging in their phones, its time to catch-up Apple.
Anyone forget about Apple's acquisition of Beats???? I have Beat's wireless gym headphones which recently got dropped from $200 to $150, and they are very good. I'm sure Apple will include a cheaper version of them with the phone.
Oh how I loathe to upgrade phones. Currently using a Iphone 5s that is due for an upgrade in September and it really sucks what apple does to keep people buying like making older iphones obsolete with or without OS upgrades.
Have you seen the Samsung Note 7? i've read a lot of good reviews and the features are really awesome. so why buy an iPhone? :)
Does anyone else think that the pace of innovation is slow with these Iphones? I feel like all these new "features" could have come out years ago. It's frustrating.
This
It's intentional. For example, no one really believes Apple hasn't made iPhones waterproof because they don't yet possess the technology. It's nothing more than an elongated marketing plan to keep each year's iPhone "innovative" until cellphones are obsolete.
Are they gonna release a new Iphone every year? I just bought an Iphone 6 I should have just waited or just bought a Samsung Note 7 that comes with a free VR headset .. Urrgh,,
You must be new here (on planet earth)..
RIP AAPL
