Are these boutiques actually that good?

Hey guys,

Wondering if boutiques like Gleacher, Greenhill, Centerview (these specifically) are that good. Do they actually place that well and will you be able to see some good deals and get good experience? What is the lifestyle like? If you had offers for one of these boutiques, would you take it over a BB like Citi, UBS or DB? Thanks for the help.

Please don't ever manage my money if you can't do a simple search

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Do you actually have offers from these places?

Regardless, you will get to work on mega deals and have great exit opps at all these places. It totally depends on what type of experience you want. You will get to see more execution and have more interaction w/ senior people at the boutiques, but you will get a more extensive training program and network at the BBs. Like I said, depends what you're looking to get out of your analyst years.

Centerview is an amazing firm with probably the best per-capita dealflow of any investment bank out there, but it's not that well known so it probably won't get as much headhunter attention as GS, so you'll have a more difficult time placing into the top shops from what I've heard. If you plan to stay in banking it's top notch though, and it's one of only 2-3 places where I could see myself staying rather than jumping to PE (the other 2 are probably Allen & Co. and Greenhill)
