are you WFH or back in office?
my area is entering phase 2 Friday and my boss decided that Monday is the day we will go back into the office. despite the fact that the guidelines state “continued teleworking when possible”. my job is 100% easily done at home. yes my office is technically “low risk” due to walls/space but my boss and coworkers definitely fall in the “high risk” category of people who need to avoid public when they can. so I’m confused. and I’m pissed. I’m loving WFH and literally every other company I’ve heard of is extended WFH thru September at the earliest. should I try to say something or accept my fate and cry every morning when I wake up early to get ready to go somewhere to do the same shit i could’ve done 2 hours later on my couch
My area is also entering a new phase this Friday but no mention of going back to the office. I expect WFH at least through the end of this month.
WFH for the rest of the year babbyyyy. Not in IB though (still NYC based). Thankful for this time where I can network during the day without booking a conference room to myself and looking suspect.
big four?
Negative. Not in that industry either.
MS thrower come show yourself.
When our offices re-open, they are only opening at 25% capacity through at least the end of August.
No employees are being forced to return, it’s all voluntary.
One of our hq offices has thousands of people working there and less than 100 asked to come back when it opened this week.
This is the same for my company. We started our Phase I this week at 20%-25% capacity. Across our entire floor, there are only 5-8 people here at a time.
Our firm said they will start to consider going back around labor day at the earliest, unless your client really wants you to come in. I hope I get to WFH forever honestly I love it.
Timely - this is my first day back in the office. No one else is wearing a mask.
I'm not particularly thrilled about it, but it wouldn't be a good look for me to continue to be the only one working from home.
Has anyone brought up having flexibility to wfh in the future? like a day a week is good with me. my company is so old fashioned sometimes it’s hard to deal with
I plan on it. Work from home Fridays alone would be terrific.
My office culture is a bit odd - no one one generally cares if you're here or not, as work product is more important, until it starts getting noticed that you're not here.
It is noon today and so far I've had two calls, reviewed market data for a pursuit we probably won't close on, listened to two podcasts, and have posted a couple times on WSO. I'm not sure what the argument is for having to do this in the office.
You must be from Toronto
Where you located?
Been back in office for over a month. No particular measures being taken. Most of company doesnt believe Corona is a real threat
Small firm but we have been WFH since the start and I'm loving it. Been doing some side hustle stuff when things are slow.
My long term preference would be 3 days in office / 2 days WFH. There are some days where you are truly more efficient being able to work together with your team, but that isn't a necessity 100% of your working hours.
i'm a consultant who does work for RE owners and operators
our clients don't want us on site. we don't want to be in the office. everyone still wfh as far as i can tell.
“WFH and back in the office”
We're still continuing WFH and it most likely going to be this way for a while. We do have the option go back but only a certain number of people can be there at a time. My office is in a downtown core where a good majority relies on public transit, so I think that's where management is most worried.
WFH and the office return keeps getting pushed out every month. I'm guessing it won't be until Septemberish assuming rona settles down.
We went from a 3 day per year WFH policy to 3 months straight so far. To top it off, our office building was looted, no damage to our floor but all of the ground floor businesses were trashed.
Our lease is ending next year and we are considering making WFH permanent and hot desking with a much smaller footprint. This is a pretty crazy turnaround from a place that used to consider WFH an "unofficial vacation day".
Still WFH. Seems that my company wants everyone back in the office. 'Phase 2' employees are going back on Monday. Not too sure when 'Phase 3' (aka everyone else) will be back. That said, it doesn't seem like they are forcing the issue on people where it's a huge pain in the ass - kids, public transportation issues, etc.
Haven’t heard any return to office announcement/ yet. I work for an institutional shop so I assume they’ll be as cautious as possible. Hearing some chatter about phases starting mid July but who knows.
Sick of WFH already. I can maybe do a one day a week on a Friday, but I am so sick of the corny ass video meeting.
We're doing a split between the two. I'm a lot more efficient on the computer from the office so it's kind of nice that I can grind for like 9-10 hours straight there a couple times a week and then have it easy during my WFH days.
WFH for the foreseeable future, then a plan for gradual return whenever that's approved. Probably won't be people back in the office full time until next year.
My boss already suggested I WFH 2 days a week permanently after this, so that's a treat.
We're supposed to be WFH... But I am in the office typing this now. Director just said she doesn't want to hear about it from us directly. Out of sight out of mind I guess
WFH for flexibility is great and we will continue to use it for that reason, but my psyche was definitely taking a hit working in my bedroom and living room for 3 months. So much better being back in the office
It's interesting to read all the opinions on WFH. I personally could give a shit if I ever step inside our office again. Less shitty impromptu meetings that should be emails, less shitty ad-hoc requests, less shitty commuting (Suburbanite with two kids). I miss the people but I am totally fine with Zoom/Skype/Teams for chatting with them.
That said, I do miss the networking in person. I feel that you don't typically know a person until you meet them in person and can see their body language.
prob a sept return
early July in NYC
Similar for me, next Monday it'll be reopened but only less than third will be in at a time. Apparently they couldn't get the whole amount they wanted in on Monday anyway so it'll be even less since they were pretty lax about not forcing people to go if they didn't feel comfortable or were at risk.
Back in the office. High growth sunbelt market.
WFH still in effect till Sept. and then leadership will reevaluate from there.
Back in the office, Texas baby
At this point we're being told until April 21 at least. Shoulda bought a standing desk while I could
