ARGUS Enterprise Online Training and Certification
Looking to get certified in ARGUS Enterprise with the ARGUS Software Certification (ASC) Valuation – ARGUS Enterprise Bundle found here -> Dotcom/s.nl/sc.39/category.14072/.f" rel="nofollow">http://customer.argussoftwareDotcom/s.nl/sc.39/…
Has anyone had any experience with their e-learning stuff and getting certified via their e-learning bundles? I'm trying to get into their 2-day public class, but am not finding anywhere to do so in Boston in the next month. I'm an undergrad senior looking for work in CRE now but feel like I'm being really hamstrung by the fact that I don't have any ARGUS experience or RE internships, even though I've done RE coursework.
Just as a heads up if you do not have a decent amount of Argus experience it is tough to pass Argus certification exam. This was my experience with DCF anyway. The little online training course is basically a joke and worthless. You will do well on the "quizzes" and then get smoked on the exam if you don't really get it because of the time crunch. I doubt you will be able to get Argus certified from just taking the online courses (hope you can prove me wrong). The problem is that you need to have a good understanding of how to underwrite the different property types, how leases and reimbursements work, etc. because you do not know what property type will be on the exam. The easy part is plugging into the software. I failed the exam the first time but shortly after got a job where I am in Argus every day. After a couple months of work and several valuations I re-took the exam and passed. Good luck.
IRRelevant Thanks for the advice. I feel as though I'm backed into a corner with this ARGUS situation. I'm an undergrad senior looking for employment in CRE in Baltimore/DC, but don't have ARGUS training or any RE internships, although I have completed RE coursework (with an economics degree). Everyone I speak to tells me I have great reasons for why I'm interested in CRE and tells me that they feel I am clearly very into it and qualified, and yet I seem to be getting nowhere. I've heard a couple of times now that ARGUS training would help my case, but I'm having a hard time finding a good way to be trained in it.

Both can be completed within a week if you work through the manuals they send you from front to back. Make sure to inquire about academic pricing.
How much did it end up costing you?
I just got ASC (enterprise) certified .. it's a pain. I had only used DCF before I started studying.
75 multiple choice and a case study that has 15 multiple choice and you have to pass both sections with a 70%+. Everyone that I know that has taken the exam always gets tripped up on the case study because one minor mistake will throw your answers off. Although they throw you a bone and ask certain questions that you can get right even if you mess up, like yr 1 rent or something; it is not enough to pass the case study if you don't get it all right. They also like to include "none of the above" answers on the case study so it will throw you off and you won't know where you messed up.
Just go through the entire certification book from page 1 to the very last page. Then do the case studies over and over until you can complete them all without one mistake. Then you will be good. be prepared to put in some serious studying for a printed out paper that says you are certified for two years; although it is incredibly helpful for learning the software if you are not familiar with it.
Going through Enterprise cert right now, however my certification is part of my undergrad degree. Definitely have to echo the sentiment above...you need understand where the numbers are coming from as opposed to just inputting and letting it spit out results.
I think being able to build a pro-forma and valuation in excel from scratch would help with this. My undergrad coursework we learned modeling in excel and then moved into Argus.
Sounds like a really reputable UG RE program. We only had one RE class in my finance program and it was very high level.
